    On August 17th, 2024, five students from Chung Hua Independent High School Klang had participated in the 10th Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Negeri Sembilan Chinese Independent Secondary School (CISS) English Forum Competition, co-organised by Hin Hua High School Klang together with the United Chinese School Committees’ Association of Selangor and Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur. The competition, which is held every year, aims to provide an opportunity for students to display their public speaking talents, to provide a platform for interactions between students and to raise awareness on current and social issues.
    The title of our forum presented was Understanding the Energy Crisis: Causes, Consequences and Solution. The Chairperson, Lee Kai Yang from S2AH, led the team to an impeccable delivery of what defines as energy crisis, the impacts and potential solutions in the future. The other three participants, Shim Huan Boon (S1ST), Ong Yi (S2ST) and Leow Li Xin (S2AH), were actively sharing on the insights. Saik Jia Wen (S2ST) as reserve supported the team with the research.
    The event featured eight schools competing in various themes, including Lifestyles, Social, Culture, Economy, Education, Environment, Language and Arts, Science and Technology, Agriculture and Sports / Health. Three adjudicators were Dr Chai Xun Yu (Nottingham University), Ms Michelle Lim Pek Sim (Prauniversiti Kolej Tingkatan Enam; Puchong KPM) and Dr Teh Pei Ling (Ministry of Education – Curriculum Development Division).
    Our team received the Encouragement Award and overall, the competition was a resounding success, fostering creativity, teamwork and a passion for learning among the students.
