【学科活动-英文组】Briefing on 2025 J3 & S1 English Listening Tests

On Friday, 8th August 2025, the Academic Affairs and English Language Departments jointly held an informative briefing for Junior 3 and Senior 1 students in preparation for their upcoming English Listening Tests at the school hall.

Prior to the briefing, Mr Lee, the head of Academic Affairs Department, gave substantial advice to all students.Conducted during the 9th period and chaired by Ms Cheng, the session served as an essential orientation and warm-up for students taking their first formal listening assessment in secondary school. The 20-minute briefing provided clear guidance to help students approach the test with confidence and understanding.

Important Instructions

- Required materials (e.g. 5B pencil, eraser, O-sheet and question paper)
- Test-day procedures and punctuality
- Expected conduct during the examination
- What not to do (e.g., late entry, talking, using electronic devices, etc.)

Practical Listening Strategies

- Focusing on keywords in questions

- Staying calm and attentive during audio playback

- Managing time effectively while responding

Students were reminded that the listening component contributes directly to their overall English grade and will be reflected in their end-of-term report cards. Following instructions carefully can help eliminate avoidable mistakes and lead to satisfactory results.

The briefing ensured that all students left with a clear understanding of what to expect and how to prepare. With proper attention and practice, the English Language Department is confident that every student can perform well.
