On 2nd December 2023, a team of English language teachers, Ms Tey Siau Koon (Head of the English Language Department), Mr Thomas Cheah Chun Fye (Level Head of the Senior One level), Ms Cho Yin Yin and Ms Anya Shu Dan Nar, was sent for a briefing on the “Pitch Your Idea” Project, conducted by Dr Too Wei Keong at the University of Nottingham. The project is expected to start in 2025, and thereby we are planning to have selected Senior One classes familiarise with it in order to prepare them for the competition next year.

Part I: An Introduction to the “Pitch Your Idea” Project
Prepared by Ms Anya, revised by Ms Tey and presented by Ms Cho, teachers of the English Language Department were introduced and exposed to the “Pitch Your Idea” Project. The briefing included the objectives, guidelines, the eight elements, suggested themes and judging criteria.

Part II: The Implementation of the “Pitch Your Idea” Project
Mr Thomas then introduced the initial plan on how to implement the “Pitch Your Idea” Project in Senior One classes. Divided into two stages, students will have to complete Introduction, Problem Statement, Solution to the Problem and Target Market in the first semester, followed by Competition, Operation Plan, Financial Plan and Conclusion in the second semester. Judging criteria has been adapted to cater for students of different proficiency levels. Teachers were actively involved in the discussion and voiced their concern, allowing the exchange of ideas on how to make it happen.
